EdgeConneX Logo_NewHerndon, VA – November 19, 2013EdgeConneX, specializing in content delivery at the edge of the network, today announced that its Executive Vice President of Wireless Services, Doug Wiest, will speak at the Small Cells Americas conference taking place December 3-4 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, TX.

Mr. Wiest will join Hugo Lombardo, CTO, Telecom Personal; Raj Singh, General Manager, Wireless Broadband Group – Cavium; and Sameer Wasson, General Manager, Communications Infrastructure, Texas Instruments, on the panel, ‘LTE Roll-Out and Looking Ahead to the Role of Small Cells’, taking place at 9:55 AM on Wednesday, December 4th.  Joe Madden, Principal Analyst at Mobile Experts, will moderate the panel.  Mr. Wiest and fellow panelists will explore the role of small cells in tackling the challenges of LTE roll-out.  They will also identify the interference migration solutions available for deploying LTE small cells and explore the importance of macro parity in LTE small cell roll-outs.

“As mobile data consumption continues to soar and the market migrates from 3G to LTE networks, operators are increasingly becoming more reliant on small cells to provide more bandwidth, expanded network coverage and capacity, as well as better quality of service for their customers,” says Doug Wiest, EVP of Wireless Services at EdgeConneX.  “Our panel aims to provide attendees with a better understanding of small cells and their role in LTE adoption.  It will also address the common challenges faced by operators during LTE and small cell roll-out, including gaining sufficient small cell backhaul capacity for LTE and seamlessly integrating the new technology with existing systems and applications.”

An industry veteran, Mr. Wiest holds more than 30 years of telecommunications experience. At EdgeConneX, he oversees the development of the company’s wireless portfolio of intelligent space, power and connectivity solutions.  Prior to joining EdgeConneX in 2010, Mr. Wiest served as CEO of Lightower and COO of American Tower.  He has also held numerous executive-level positions at Nextel, McCaw Communications and Pacific Telesis.
