North American expansion for TeliaSonera International Carrier

Completion of Major Network Expansion

TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) today announced the completion of a major North American network expansion. It adds 11,500 fiber miles (18,400 km) to TSIC’s global backbone. This will extend their reach to 44 American cities by December 31, 2014. It will also provide diverse connection into South America, where TSIC is experiencing rapid growth. The expansion builds on customer success and is evidence of TSIC’s strategy to keep meeting the ever-increasing performance demands of end users.

TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) is the award-winning* global IP carrier that has, over the last 13 years, expanded its fiber network with American customers who value high performance, business critical connectivity. As a ‘top five’ carrier in the Americas today, TSIC has added 50 new, large-scale customers this year alone. Building on this success, it has taken the next step with a significant super channel- based network expansion of 11,500 fiber miles.

“Today’s end users want everything, anywhere, instantly. This expansion is about supporting that and the increasing interest for our offering in the Americas.” says Erik Hallberg, President, TeliaSonera International Carrier. “In fact, it’s our largest network build-out in the Americas since our first US fiber investment in 2000. It strengthens our global backbone and demonstrates our commitment to be ready to carry the big ideas of tomorrow.”

TSIC offers a full portfolio of transport, IP, international voice and IPX- based services with customers in 85 countries around the world.

“This build is a significant step and our customers will be able to take advantage of new opportunities that come from the expanded reach, increased diversity and optimized performance it delivers. It’s especially exciting for our fast-growing Latin American business” says Ivo Pascucci, Sales Director, Americas, TeliaSonera International Carrier Inc.

TSIC, ranked as one of the top two global IP backbone providers by internet intelligence authority Renesys, owns and operates its own network across Europe, North America and Asia.  Leveraging its global fiber backbone with more than 200 Points of Presence (PoPs) worldwide, TSIC offers customers a scalable and secure network complete with end-to-end SLAs while providing enhanced quality of service and access to anything, anywhere via the most direct, reliable connections.
