FiberLight Expands Its Footprint in Texas, Enhancing Connectivity

Expansion Links Texas Borders to Major Metros and Attracts Global Carriers to 100G Ring

FiberLight LogoATLANTA – May 9, 2016FiberLight, LLC, an industry leader in providing high-performance fiber optic network solutions, today announces continued network expansion in Texas, connecting areas in the Texas valley near the Mexican border to major cities including Houston, San Antonio and Dallas with a dedicated fiber optic, high-performance network ring. FiberLight is the first fiber provider in decades to build along this long-haul route, and this historical network expansion allows service providers to directly connect with customers via a low latency, flexible, fully redundant and diverse fiber network.

“This new route offers enhanced national and international connectivity options while providing another avenue of survivability and continuity for service providers and content providers throughout Texas and beyond,” comments Ron Kormos, FiberLight Chief Strategy Officer. “In addition to serving North American providers, international carriers are now able to access FiberLight’s array of services offered across its network to gain access to other regional hubs throughout the country.”

While FiberLight is pioneering fiber connectivity in Texas, this expanded route is part of a much larger and diverse 12,000-mile, 100G long-haul network. FiberLight now offers a 100G fully redundant ring that allows network traffic to be accessed in over 120 data centers throughout all of the major hubs from Washington, D.C., down to the South coast of Florida, around to Texas and back up through Atlanta and D.C. The diverse 100G backbone network ring provides interconnection between various markets and subsea landing points, and enhances connectivity to hundreds of data centers and thousands of on-net and near-net buildings.

“Demanding U.S. government agencies and industries rely on FiberLight for best-in-class customer service and network reliability and security,” comments Jim Hintze, FiberLight Senior Vice President of Sales. “Our evolving dark fiber reach affords carriers, enterprise and government customers that rely on critical high-bandwidth applications to gain greater access to cloud-based services.”

FiberLight owns and manages over 1.6 million fiber miles in over 44 metro areas across the United States. It also maintains over 17,000 backbone access points, 1,700 on-net locations and presence in over 100 data centers across the country. The FiberLight network within the State of Texas spans over 10,000 miles.
