Texas Connector Introduces Low-Latency Transport to Communities Across the State
ATLANTA – February 20, 2018 – FiberLight, LLC, an industry leader in providing high performance fiber optic network solutions, today announces completion of its Texas Connector, a fiber network which establishes connectivity between the western portion of the company’s network with its Dallas-Austin-San Antonio-Houston (DASH) fiber footprint. The project, which broke ground in 2016, delivers a unique fiber pathway for low-latency connectivity across the state, as well as diversely constructed routes for enhanced redundancy capabilities.
The Texas Connector is the final step in linking FiberLight’s 10,000-mile Texas footprint into one expansive network. This new expansion provides enterprises, service providers, and carriers with direct high-bandwidth transport capabilities into critical regional and national data centers in Dallas, Houston, and other tech-focused cities across FiberLight’s network, thus benefitting all major metro areas. By investing in its Texas network, FiberLight aims to meet the growing demand across the state for state-of-the-art fiber infrastructure which is secure, flexible and reliable .
“Completion of FiberLight’s Texas Connector allows us to move traffic across the state on our own network, built and maintained by FiberLight,” says Wayne Wooley, SVP of Construction for FiberLight. “The Texas Connector ties all the major regional markets together with smaller, rural communities. This unique footprint allows us to enable cellular backhaul network expansion and educational and healthcare campus connectivity projects, in addition to providing enterprise customers with the necessary connectivity with reliable bandwidth scalability to grow their business.”
This total Texas transport solution creates new opportunities for international carriers and companies to increase data-supported business operations in the U.S. In addition, the Texas Connector project also features the creation of multiple colocation huts at key locations along the route, providing equipment space for FiberLight’s dark fiber customers. The company plans to complete switching hardware installations in remaining sites and perform test and turn-up of 100GB transport across all spans.
FiberLight owns and manages over 1.9 million fiber miles in over 44 metro areas across the United States. It also maintains over 26,000 backbone access points, 2,000 on-net locations and presence in 140 data centers across the country. The FiberLight network within the State of Texas spans over 10,000 miles.
