What is FirstNet?
Simply put FirstNet is the first nationwide, high-speed broadband network dedicated to public safety – our First Responders Network. This initiative grew out of the public safety community’s commitment to, and advocacy for, a dedicated network to address the communication challenges faced during 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. Consider the importance communication has in public safety. When an emergency arises, instincts kick in and you depend on the ability to contact the folks you need and depend on; that’s where the FirstNet infrastructure comes in.

The State of 5G: When It's Coming, How Fast It Will Be & The Sci-Fi Future It Will Enable
Although 5G may seem like just another generational upgrade for mobile networks, touting more speed and less latency than previous iterations, the years-long migration will require an expansion of cellular networks worldwide to include millions of new antennas that will become the backbone of IoT (Internet of Things) and its billions of sensor-laden devices, from smart dust to smart cars.
Future-Proofing Connectivity for Rural Banks By Doug Romi, Director of Enterprise Sales, Bluebird Network
As technology continues to evolve in the financial services sector, legacy network architecture is no longer able to support the growing needs of modern banks. For financial institutions within major cities, low-latency, high-bandwidth fiber connectivity is readily available, making it easy to scale fiber according to connectivity requirements. Unfortunately, banks positioned in rural areas do not experience the same luxury of close proximity to an array of advanced fiber networks, making it increasingly difficult to maintain pace with the industry and serve customers with cutting-edge services and capabilities.
The Cloud Goes Underground: Why Physical Data Center Security Matters
Subterranean Data Centers Offer the Ultimate in Physical Security and Resilience
By Sue Schaefer, Director, Business Development of Bluebird Network
Extreme weather, seismic events and even rodents have compromised the physical security of cloud servers and other data center infrastructure. Selecting an underground colocation facility with above industry standards provides the solution to these and other threats.
With cyberattacks such as Petya and WannaCry making big headlines recently, it’s understandable that fortifying cybersecurity is top-of-mind for many CIOs. Last May, WannaCry invaded 200,000 computers in 150 countries, including the U.S., UK, Russia and China, as it attacked hospitals, banks and telecommunications companies.
