ZenFi Pushes High-Bandwidth Mobile and Broadband Connectivity Closer to the User

ZenFi’s Three-Pronged Approach Enables Wireless Connectivity in an Increasingly Wireless and Broadband-Connected World.

New York, NY – February 17, 2017 ZenFi, New York’s carrier-neutral fronthaul fiber provider, announces today that its President and Chief Executive Officer, Ray LaChance, will attend the Mobile World Congress taking place February 27 to March 2, 2017 in Barcelona, Spain.  Mr. LaChance will be available to share insights on how ZenFi’s three-pronged approach enables wireless connectivity in an increasingly wireless and broadband-connected world.

First, ZenFi owns and operates a carrier-neutral dark fiber network specializing in fronthaul, backhaul and wavelength connectivity to enable the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G capability.  The carrier-neutral dark fiber networks enable IoT content growth by pushing capacity closer to the edge.  With 400-plus route miles of fiber in New York City and 15-plus on-net data centers, ZenFi infrastructure underlies and empowers connectivity in today’s mobile world.

Second, ZenFi provides mobile wireless connectivity and enhanced IoT on every sidewalk, to and, in every building, and throughout every neighborhood and borough in New York with access points in closer proximity to end users. The access points are interconnected to key aggregation points that connect to the core of the internet.  Collocated at specific PoPs that are interconnected to the core backhaul fiber network, the neighborhood network supports widely distributed wireless equipment interconnection and colocation, bringing more small cells, in-building and outdoor DAS remotes, remote radio heads, macro sites and Wi-Fi access points closer to the user.  The neighborhood network approach enables high-bandwidth connectivity to mobile communication antennas, offering more on- and off-ramps to the locations customers want to reach.

Third, the neighborhood network complements the Express Network, which serves as the interconnection point between New York City’s carrier hotels, carrier-neutral data centers and enterprise locations.  It also serves as a gateway to its Access Network connecting wireless access points throughout the city.

“ZenFi continues to enhance wireless connectivity and the Internet of Things throughout New York City by delivering unprecedented bandwidth,” explains Mr. La Chance.  “With fiber to virtually every street corner in New York across all five boroughs, ZenFi is revolutionizing wireless and broadband connectivity and all that it enables.  Mobile World Congress is always a great show for fostering innovation and I am excited to be attending.”
