Founders of Lexent Metro Connect and Metro Network Services Debut Their Latest Venture to Support the Unprecedented Growth of Wireless Networks in the New York Metro Area
New York, NY – September 9, 2014 – ZenFi Networks, Inc., New York’s newest provider for connectivity and colocation delivered over a private dedicated fiber optic network, unveils the construction of its new fiber optic and fixed wireless network built specifically to support the pervasive deployment of new mobile wireless antenna locations required by the projected and unprecedented growth of mobile traffic throughout the New York metro area.
ZenFi’s purpose-built network leverages a neighborhood network and colocation infrastructure model specifically designed to support the wireless service provider requirement for densification – bringing more small cells, in-building and outdoor Distributed Antenna System (DAS) remotes, Remote Radio Heads (RRHs), macro sites and Wi-Fi access points closer to the user. Unlike traditional carrier networks that are built for enterprise applications and have sparse fiber density between end-user sites, centralized data centers and carrier hotels, ZenFi’s network is designed to support widely distributed wireless equipment interconnection and colocation. ZenFi’s dense fiber optic fronthaul network footprint is homed to a series of distributed colocation facilities (Base Station Hotels) for aggregation and backhaul to major interconnection facilities. The ZenFi model makes widespread adoption of Fiber-to-the-Antenna (FTTA) a cost-effective and realistic solution for wireless carriers and neutral hosts.
Founded by the innovative team that built Lexent Metro Connect and Metro Network Services, ZenFi was formed to solve the issue of accessible and affordable bandwidth for mobile wireless applications. ZenFi provides operators network connectivity delivered over a private, dedicated fiber optic network between various types of buildings and cell sites as well as carrier hotels and data centers in New York City.
“Being active and immersed in the design and construction of customized dark fiber networks, we realized the need for a company like ZenFi to build a network with the explicit purpose of enabling connectivity for a mobile world,” explains Ray La Chance, CEO and President of ZenFi. “For any market to succeed, it must adapt to support the growing and diversifying technology needs of businesses. With the proliferation of mobile communications, it’s necessary for fiber to be highly accessible to an array of solutions; ZenFi and our new fiber optic and fixed wireless network make that a reality for the New York metro area.”
ZenFi will continue to advance fiber optic and fixed wireless network infrastructure within the New York metro area by optimizing mobile data delivery and cutting costs through its new integrated network solution.
