SYDNEY, 31 July 2014 – Pacnet, a leading provider of integrated technology solutions in the Asia-Pacific region, today announced that it has been appointed to the Australian Government Data Centre Facilities Supplies Panel.
Pacnet’s Tier 3 data centre facilities in Sydney and Melbourne can provide redundancy for Canberra’s geographically diverse public sector organisations. Supporting local disaster recovery and data sovereignty requirements, Pacnet’s robust network infrastructure offers not only low-latency connectivity across Asia Pacific, but also wide domestic reach with a number of Points of Presence in Australia’s capital cities. Under the appointment, government agencies will also be able to deploy the Pacnet Enabled Network (PEN), an industry-first service platform that leverages Software-defined Networking (SDN), to self-provision and configure their network resources on demand within minutes, controlling performance and quality of service requirements under a flexible pricing model and robust SLAs. With Pacnet’s support for AWS Direct Connect, government agencies can leverage its network and data centre infrastructure to establish dedicated private network connections to build and manage hybrid cloud computing deployments.

The Data Centre Facilities Supplies Panel offers government agencies a more scalable and flexible method to meet a wide range of requirements, including the option for departments to enter service contracts to procure supplies from facilities located in Australia. In order to qualify for the Panel, vendors must have data centre facilities located within Australia and feature PUE of 1.9 or less and a capacity of 1 million Voltage-Amps.
