Co-founder and Treasurer Martin Hannigan to Discuss Critical Association Milestones, New Certification Directory
CAMBRIDGE, MA, USA – April 7, 2014 – The Open-IX Association (OIX), a neutral, non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet Exchanges in North America, announces today the attendance of Martin Hannigan, OIX Co-founder and Treasurer, and Dave Temkin, OIX Co-founder and Chairman of the Board, at the ninth annual Global Peering Forum 9.0, taking place April 7-10, 2014 at the Westin Resort and Spa in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. Mr. Hannigan has also been selected as a speaker, presenting the educational session about Open-IX.
Mr. Hannigan is scheduled to present on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 12:10 – 12:30 PM. In his session, he will discuss recent Open-IX Association developments as well as significant milestones since its inception in September 2013, including the certification of 13 data centers and 2 Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) as well as the launch of its new Certification Directory, accessible via the OIX website. The Open-IX Certification Directory provides visitors with visibility into both certified data centers and IXPs as well as those pending authorization and includes links to access information related to competitive interconnect pricing on a market-to-market basis.
Open-IX is a non-profit and neutral body of volunteers from the Internet community with the common goal of creating standards for Internet connectivity, resiliency, interconnect, security and cost. OIX is seeking to help unify a highly fragmented industry and change the way networks connect with one another in North America by creating a new network of member-governed Internet exchange points (IXPs) housed in multiple neutral data center facilities that allow participants to interact and exchange content without the usual fiscal burden of commercial providers.
The annual Global Peering Forum is a networking event that encourages new peering relationships and interconnection among networks, content, cloud, and digital media organizations and related entities from North America, South America, Europe and Asia. The forum is designed to further educate peering coordinators, network architects and operations engineers on the latest technical advancements, peering policies and peering economic models through a series of meeting sessions, panels and presentations, social activities and networking opportunities. In addition to Open-IX, forum participants will include AMS-IX, Brocade, CoreSite, CyrusOne, DE-CIX, and Equinix, as well as JPNAP, LINX, Telx and Verizon Terremark.
