Open–IX Association to Speak at MEF GEN14 in Washington, D.C.

Marketing Committee Chair, Vinay Nagpal, to Discuss the Inception, Growth and Future of Open-IX

Open-IX LogoCAMBRIDGE, MA, USA – November 18, 2014 – The Open-IX Association (OIX), a non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges, announces that Marketing Committee Chair, Vinay Nagpal, will speak at the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Global Ethernet Networking 2014 (GEN14) conference, to be held November 17-20, 2014 at the Gaylord National in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Nagpal will join thought-leaders from the MEF Wholesale Services, Internet Peering and Interconnection industries on the breakfast session, “Industry Initiatives Update”, taking place 7:30 AM – 8:20 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2014. The presentation will explore the emergence and proliferation of Open-IX, as well as update attendees on recent and future Association initiatives. Mr. Nagpal will also discuss Open-IX’s relevance and role in improving the global peering landscape, highlighting how providing alternative ways of interconnection with other industry players via alternative exchange points in various metros can ensure more efficient and resilient Internet operation. 

Open-IX is a non-profit association organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet community who aim to increase the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. Through broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the Association has produced two Internet Exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and certified 21 data centers and two exchanges since its inception approximately one year ago.
