Host in Ireland Announces Addition of Jim Rice to its Advisory Council

DUBLIN – 18 January 2018 Host in Ireland, a strategic global initiative created to increase awareness of the benefits of hosting digital assets in Ireland, and winner of the Datacloud Europe 2016 award for Innovative Data Center Location, today announces that Jim Rice has joined its Advisory Council.  The Advisory Council works in collaboration with Host in Ireland Founder and President Garry Connolly to further the reach and impact of the initiative’s mission through well-formulated strategies based on the extensive industry experience of its members.

Mr. Rice is a Chartered Engineer and is currently Chairman of the Irish Manufacturer’s Association within Ibec, Ireland’s largest and most active business representation organisation.  He brings more than 30 years of experience in the Irish technology sector to Host in Ireland, including 16 years as Country President of Schneider Electric Ireland, and as an Independent Chairman and Non-Executive Director of a number of Irish engineering and technology companies, and trade organisations.  In 2015, Mr. Rice was knighted by the French government as a Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite for his contribution to the bilateral trade between Ireland and France. He will leverage this international and local expertise in support of Host in Ireland’s mission to increase its partners and expand global market awareness while reinforcing Ireland’s position as a top European location for hosting digital assets.

“I am honoured to join the Host in Ireland Advisory Council,” says Mr. Rice.  “This exciting organisation is at the forefront of a rapidly growing, global technology hub, and I look forward to working with the Advisory Council and Mr. Connolly to share the benefits of hosting in Ireland with the global data centre and international business communities.”

Host in Ireland was founded by Mr. Connolly in 2014, and the initiative has supported Ireland in its evolution to become the “Digital Gateway to Europe” and “Home of the Hybrid Cloud.”  It promotes the many advantages that make Ireland uniquely attractive to global operators, including its pro-business approach, attractive corporate tax, common law based legal system, continued investment in off-Island fiber cables to the U.S. and Europe, and continued financial support for data centre energy efficiency.

About Host in Ireland

Host in Ireland, winner of the Datacloud Europe 2016 award for Innovative Data Center Location, is an industry-led marketing initiative that provides timely and accurate information about Ireland’s digital asset hosting ecosystem at all times including demonstrating why Ireland is more cost-effective, efficient, reliable, secure and accessible than most other regions across the EU.  There’s a reason companies like Microsoft, Zendesk, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Adobe and beyond have sought to host their solutions in as well as to/from Ireland.  Many of these reasons are immediately realized due to access to affordable power, redundant network and bandwidth capacity along with a variety of data center providers that offer an array of services sustained by the “5 Ps”: Policy, People, Pedigree, Pipes, and Power.  On top of that is a very attractive business management structure, implemented by Ireland, which is keenly interested to bring new businesses into the market.  Ireland supports this initiative through its pro-business approach, attractive corporate tax and fiscal structures, common law based legal system, continued investment in off-Island fiber cables to the U.S. and Europe, financial support for data centre energy efficiency, and access to a skilled native English-speaking workforce – ensuring data asset compliance for companies large and small.  For more information about Host in Ireland, visit www.hostinireland.com.
