MEDIA ALERT – FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
Herndon, VA – October 14, 2013 – EdgeConneX, specializing in content delivery at the edge of the network, today announced its Executive Vice President of Wireless Services, Doug Wiest, will speak at the WISPAPALOOZA 2013 event taking place October 14-18th at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Mr. Wiest, along with fellow panelist Jorge Forero, Business Development Director for National Accounts at Taqua, LLC, and moderator Art Meierdirk, Senior Director of Business Services for INOC, will speak on the Northeast DAS and Small Cell Association-sponsored panel, ‘New Business Opportunities: Small Cells and Wholesale DAS’. The panel is taking place at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in room 3b. Mr. Wiest will share his insights into success factors for small cell deployment, focusing on options for additional revenue, the challenges of site acquisition and obtaining optimized connections with better backhaul.
“Large venue owners’ distinctive coverage requirements and the need for carriers to offload large users from the macrocell are some of the key drivers for the deployment of DAS and small cell network solutions today,” says Doug Wiest, EVP of Wireless at EdgeConneX. “Our presentation will provide attendees with key considerations for business solutions that build on the synergies of carrier and large venue requirements. We will simultaneously address their unique differences, offering a plethora of new business opportunities for providers in the small cell and wholesale DAS space.”
Mr. Wiest holds 30+ years of experience in telecom, wireless networks and tower companies. As EVP of Wireless, he is responsible for setting and executing on the strategic vision across EdgeConneX’s Wireless portfolio of intelligent space, power and connectivity solutions to ensure a superior experience for its customers. Prior to joining EdgeConneX in October 2010, Mr. Wiest served as CEO of Lightower and COO of American Tower. He has also held numerous executive-level positions at Nextel, McCaw Communications and Pacific Telesis.
