Portland Facility is the First and Only OIX-Certified Data Center in the Pacific Northwest
Herndon, VA – August 4, 2016 – EdgeConneX®, specializing in global data center solutions at the Edge of the network, today announces that its Portland Edge Data Center® (EDC) has been awarded OPEN-IX® OIX-2 certification. Earning OIX-2 certification validates that the Portland EDC’s infrastructure reduces the complexity that restricts interconnection and enables the implementation of business-critical environments, international IP core networks or content platforms.
A Tier III-rated data center, EdgeConneX’s Portland Edge Data Center adds OIX-2 to its current PCI-DSS, SOC 2-Type 2 and HIPAA certifications. The Portland EDC, the only OIX-certified data center in the Pacific Northwest, also offers access to a Cloud Ecosystem that provides on-demand, direct access to top cloud providers, the latest interconnection, infrastructure monitoring and performance measurement, as well as network access and managed services solutions. This ecosystem enables customers to launch, manage and grow private, hybrid and public cloud environments with ease within a secure and reliable Edge Data Center environment.
“We’re excited to have earned Open-IX certification at our Portland Edge Data Center, which demonstrates that EdgeConneX meets the highest physical and operational standards,” states Clint Heiden, chief commercial officer, EdgeConneX. “As the first provider in the Pacific Northwest to design its data center to adhere to OIX specifications, achieving this stringent global benchmark reinforces that the Portland EDC delivers the performance, resiliency and reliability necessary to interconnect networks.”
Organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet, the Open-IX Association is dedicated to increasing the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. With the help of broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the Association has successfully developed Internet Exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and certified 30 data centers and 10 exchanges globally since its establishment in 2013.
“We are delighted to announce EdgeConneX as the first Open-IX-certified data center in the Pacific Northwest,” comments William Charnock, Chairman of the Open-IX Association. “This certification acknowledges EdgeConneX’s ongoing commitment to reducing the complexity that restricts interconnection in Tier II markets.”
