Datacenter People to Introduce CNet Training’s popular CCAM® Tool for pre-assessment for candidates.
November 5, 2019 – An industry first for leading recruitment firm Datacenter People, as they announce the introduction of CNet’s Competency and Confidence Assessment Modelling (CCAM®) Tool as part of the recruitment and screening process for candidates for data center technician and site supervisor roles across the world.
Datacenter People have acquired the rights to utilise CNet’s CCAM® assessment tool as a way to determine the knowledge, skills, competency and confidence levels for each second interview candidate they offer to employers. CCAM® is used across the world within data center enterprises, it is used to bring standardisation and quality across the industry by setting a benchmark and global competency standards for skills, knowledge and competency within the data center sector. It provides real-time analysis of the individuals’ confidence and competence and can help to identify, manage and mitigate people risk within a data center environment. The tool can uncover skills, knowledge and ability gaps and highlight topic areas that might need additional training, professional development or further support.
The assessment tool asks the individuals to answer situational judgement questions which can determine each person’s knowledge and confidence gaps, providing essential information to potential employers.
The CCAM® tool will allow Datacenter People to work closely with their clients to ensure that they find just the right candidate for the role. The recruitment team will assess candidates using CCAM® during the second stage of the interview process. The client will receive a detailed report from the CNet team that will display the individual’s levels of competence and confidence throughout the assessment criteria. The CCAM® is currently available in seven languages (English, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese) supporting the international client’s Datacenter People work with.
The CCAM® is a proven complex that has been used by CNet clients across thousands of technicians and site supervisors around the world. It is supported by a team of psychologists and operates within International Test Commission guidelines. It works through various criteria to identify people risk and focusses on individuals’ real skills, knowledge and ability gaps and, through subsequent targeted professional development activities, behaviour can be positively changed, and risks reduced. It provides organisations with a greater understanding of their potential new or existing employees as well as being able to assess the development and investment that may be required for each of the candidates.
The CCAM® tool is provided by CNet, an award-winning technical education company that has been creating and delivering programs for the network infrastructure and data center sector over 23 years. Today CNet is the global leader in technical education for the digital infrastructure industry, comprising the data center and network infrastructure sectors, and is the only industry dedicated education provider in the world to award both internationally recognised qualifications and professional certifications. These qualifications start at level 3 and culminate in the world’s only level 7 Masters Degree program in Data Center Leadership and Management.
With the data center sector suffering a skills shortage, where there aren’t enough people with the desired experience for every role. The CCAM® will allow recruiters to consider individuals from other industries; oil and gas, electrical, Armed Forces that will be able to demonstrate clearly, through the assessment, their existing knowledge and transferable skills, offering interview and potential job opportunities to those that wouldn’t have previously been considered based on their data center experience alone.
Steve Brown, Managing Director of Datacenter People, says, ‘Datacenter People is continuously looking for innovative solutions to make it easier for our clients to find just the right candidate for the job. Our strategy has always been to offer services that are specific for the data center sector and this is what differentiates ourselves from traditional recruitment firms. We saw how successful the CCAM® is within organisations and teams to work towards everyone meeting the same confidence and competency levels and we wanted to offer it to clients as part of the recruitment process. The comprehensive report that we will give to clients about the candidates will be invaluable. This in-depth analysis of the candidate’s knowledge, skills and competency gaps will not only pinpoint exactly where development is needed, but, it will also allow our clients work closely with CNet to plan the relevant professional development activities that are needed to plug these gaps and further enhance their teams.
Andrew Stevens, CEO and President, CNet Training, ‘We are delighted that Datacenter People have recognised the importance of the CCAM® assessment tool and that they have decided to adopt it as part of their recruiting process. It’s a simple, proven and very effective tool that provides organisations with an up to date insight into an individual’s skills, knowledge, competency and confidence. Being available in the seven languages allows the team at Datacenter People to utilise the tool with their global clients, which supports the CNet ethos of creating a legacy and standardisation of knowledge across the global industry. People are the biggest risk to a data center and so organisations must have the best teams in place. Unfortunately, we find that highly confident people often disguise their competency behind their confidence, Steve and his team at Datacenter People will be able to utilise the CCAM® to enable clients to highlight the candidate’s level of confidence and competency and fill any gaps. It’s also a great opportunity for organisations to potentially see the value in candidates from different sectors that might have previously been written off purely due to their lack of data center experience when in fact the CCAM® can highlight their strengths that might have been otherwise been overlooked. This is the first time a recruitment company has adopted the CCAM® tool in this way, and I look forward to following their progress and seeing their on-going success.’
