Bluebird Network Expands Coverage of Missouri Schools with High-Speed Connectivity

Five new school districts select Bluebird Network for quality, speed, and reliability of rural Internet service

Columbia, MO – August 21, 2018 Bluebird Network, a Midwest regional telecommunications company, continues to expand coverage to Missouri schools by adding five new school districts as customers.  Students at all schools in the districts will gain access to fast, reliable internet access from Bluebird to benefit from the growing wealth of online educational resources.

More than 92,000 students in 76 school districts are currently supported by Bluebird, making it the second largest broadband provider to public schools in the state of Missouri.  Bluebird works with school districts on their high-speed data connectivity requirements that keep rural students and faculty connected to digital learning advancements.  As an e-rate approved vendor, Bluebird works with those school districts eligible for funding through the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), a non-profit corporation created to help schools and libraries in the United States obtain affordable telecommunications and internet access, or directly with those school districts not within the e-rate eligibility structure.

“Bluebird Network has provided excellent network service to our rural school district,” said Dr. Ritchie Kracht, Superintendent of Clark County R-1 School District.  “We are pleased with the quality of service we receive from Bluebird, from the speed of our service to how our network is reliable now because of Bluebird’s reliability.  Everyone we have worked with from quote to install has been very professional. They were very timely in answering all our questions and have been very pleasant to work with.”

In addition to educational institutions, Bluebird provides high-speed fiber optic services to healthcare facilities, mobile switching towers and other enterprise and carrier customers across the Midwest.

“Bluebird Network is committed to providing the same level of service to our customers, regardless of location,” said Michael Morey, President and CEO of Bluebird Network.  “High-speed connectivity has become a necessity within the modern education system and all students deserve equal access to the educational opportunities provided by digital learning.”

Bluebird serves rural and metropolitan communities and continues to expand its network, recently installing its first customer-facing 100G circuits, and with plans to move toward a 400G network in the future.  Bluebird’s fiber optic infrastructure also facilitates connectivity with the Bluebird Underground Data Center, an underground collocation space located in Springfield, Missouri.
