Network Additions Mark Another Step Toward the Creation of a Super-Regional Fiber Network in the Midwest

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI – May 14, 2020 – Bluebird Network LLC, a Midwest telecommunications company, announces the completion of a three-network integration project, dramatically increasing Bluebird’s fiber network penetration in the state of Illinois.

Offering high-speed internet services, cloud connections, high-quality data transport and underground colocation products, Bluebird Network is ranked in the top one percent of world networks by the Center for Applied Internet Data Analysis.

This expansion is driven by the company’s acquisition of the Illinois Network Alliance (INA) and its ownership of PEG Bandwidth Illinois — a network services provider. Bluebird Network has already deployed direct peer relationships to major social media, search engine and streaming applications.

Beyond the state of Illinois, Bluebird Network boasts a robust fiber network in the Quad Cities, reaching across the border into Iowa. Bluebird remains on a trajectory of growth and continues to expand its unique network into new and underserved areas, delivering the fast, high-quality fiber-based internet and transport service options businesses require.

Bluebird Network offers more than 9,800 fiber route miles of high-speed broadband. The company remains dedicated to serving as a strategic internet and data transport partner to businesses, Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs), local governments, healthcare facilities, schools and wireless towers in the region as they evolve to meet tomorrow’s digital demands.

“Our fiber is as unique as our employees. We can get you a connection from Davenport or Chicago to Kansas City or across the country on our network. We’re connected to the Midwest’s most highly-valued internet exchange points and are continuing to expand and strengthen our network footprint and fiber services across Illinois,” states Michael Morey, President and CEO of Bluebird Network. “We’ve been excited to share our journey of continuous growth as we have established this Illinois network through strategic acquisitions and build outs. Furthermore, we look forward to serving as the trusted ally for businesses and communities across this region through our state-of-the-art fiber infrastructure.”

Bluebird is currently established in and continuing to expand throughout Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and the surrounding states, leveraging thousands of fiber route miles, 151 Points of Presence (POPs) and 50,000 on-net and near-net buildings. The company’s fiber network connects businesses to each other, to locations across the region, to the internet at large and to the Bluebird Underground Data Center — an underground colocation facility located in Springfield, Missouri.

The company supports 10Mb to 1Gb, 10Gb or even 100Gb connections across major cities throughout the Midwest, offering a robust network product suite and key enhancements that provide premium levels of service, expand business climates and bring new opportunities to Midwestern businesses and communities. These services include reliable bandwidth, Metro Ethernet, Wide Area Network Ethernet, Dedicated Internet Access, E-Line Services, Ethernet Virtual Private LAN Service (E-LAN) and Mobile Backhaul Transport services.
