Is EdgeConneX® a Serious Contender in the European Data Center Market?
Following its success as a new player in the market of “build-to-suit” data centers across Europe in 2016, we have found that EdgeConneX® has taken this market by storm with exponential demand for Edge Data Centers® (EDCs) by our customers in Amsterdam and Dublin.
Just a year ago, we were reported to appear as little more than taking a small first step into Europe with our first EDC build in Amsterdam. Today, EdgeConneX is on to its sixth data center in the region, a campus in Amsterdam that is approaching 100MW of critical IT power capability, and 10 additional new markets under review for our customers’ needs.
Our goal in Europe is to continue doing what we do best: build the new network, storage and compute Edge for our customers where they need it and when they want it. In an era where time is mission-critical, we strive to keep pace with the growing demands of servicing data at the Edge. We pride ourselves on speed-to-market and the nimble agility of working where the customer wants to be.
The EdgeConneX approach has proven to be successful where the Edge is being built in new markets, such as Miami and Portland, as well as existing markets where there are multiple competitive operators. Dublin, Amsterdam, and most recently, Toronto, are good examples of these. In the U.S., we face slightly different challenges than in Europe where the Edge Data Center plays to the unique needs and drivers of capacity across the continent, including data sovereignty, cloud proximity and content peering.
With Amsterdam 4 and Dublin 2 expansions underway, both EdgeConneX facilities are very much open for business, and we are seeing great demand from our existing customers as well as new ecosystem providers that expand our network, cloud and content reach.
So, Are We a Disrupter in the European Data Center Market?
Absolutely. EdgeConneX has become a serious competitor to other large data center providers in Europe in a very short space of time. Most importantly, we continue to expand and grow where our customers ask for it. Now is a good time to talk Europe with the EdgeConneX team.
