This month, we hosted our NY Summit, which featured a live multi-cast interview with DE-CIX’s Munich and Istanbul summit locations, along with a full house of of some of the peering industry's top leaders and innovators. Thanks to our host, CBRE in Midtown Manhattan and Robert Meyers’ team, we were able to provide a full morning of information and updates from our community. The day was streamed live by ISOC NY’s Joly MacFie and can be viewed online here. Thank you to our sponsors Digital Realty, OPEN-IX and Sabey Data Centers for helping to make it possible. At NANOG 68, held in Dallas, TX from October 17-19, 2016 DE-CIX North America unveiled and celebrated the launch of its Dallas, TX Internet Exchange. By sponsoring the closing social at NANOG 68 we hosted nearly 200 attendees for food, drinks and fun. Our onsite photo booth was a hit with attendees. View some of the fun images captured below:

DE-CIX Advisory Board Member and Linode Network Engineer, Carl Williams, Talks Global Interconnectivity and Standardization in the Peering Industry

DE-CIX recently sat down with Carl Williams, its new advisory Board Member, and a Network Engineer at Linode, to discuss his perspective on today’s peering ecosystem and the expansion of DE-CIX into North America. In this brief Q&A, Williams shares his vision of the future of peering as well as what he hopes to accomplish in his role with DE-CIX.

1. Could you please give us a brief overview of your professional background, leading up to your role with your current company, Linode?

My career began with a Master of Science in Network Technology back in the late 1980s when the internet was just beginning to expand. Upon receiving my degree, I joined the Sun Microsystems software development team engineering TCP/IP code. Following my time at Sun Microsystems, my professional life took a turn toward telecommunications when I worked with KDDI in Tokyo and Comcast in Philadelphia...
