Compute and Storage Infrastructure Built for Uptime: Any Building Starts with the Foundation

In an always-on technological world, one vital component for success is a data center with reliable uptime. Finding a facility that delivers robust and uninterrupted availability can be a challenge, but knowing exactly what characteristics to look for is the key to locating an ideal data center.

The most important attribute of a data center is uptime. Merriam-Webster defines uptime as “time during which a piece of equipment (i.e. a computer) is functioning or able to function.” Alternatively, downtime is the time when equipment is non-functioning or unable to function. Downtime is costly to a company’s bottom-line and reputation. In fact, nine seconds of “lights out” can easily translate to 24 to 48 hours of downtime by the time operating and database systems are fully restored.

BEHIND THE BETWORK
Bluebird Network is one of the top telecom providers in the Midwest, but maintaining that status can be more difficult than it seems. Staying on top of available and emerging technologies to support core Ethernet, IP and transport services is key to agile growth and meeting customer requirements at any given time. Bluebird Network can not be reactive to trending growth and the new technologies that support current generation services. Instead Bluebird must employs a methodical cycle of forecast-budget-build that allows the company to have network resources available in real-time or near real-time for the services we offer. At times this means building network infrastructure and capacity that may seem excessive for the market, however when done correctly, that capacity is consumed by customer services within a year’s timeframe and the forecast-budget-build cycle continues on perpetually.

How Fiber Gives New Life to Telehealth Capabilities in Critically Underserved Regions

Diagnosing and treating a medical illness is rarely as simple as just taking a pill, and when it comes to patients’ well-being, the stakes couldn’t be higher. For one county in Houston, Texas, a critical mission to eliminate Tuberculosis (TB) was jeopardized when Hurricane Harvey hit in 2017. Since TB treatment is measured on a scale of months and not weeks, the widespread disruption brought on by the storm posed serious implications — not only would treatment be prolonged for patients, but medication-resistant strains of the sickness became a very real fear.

Broadcast Bunch Blog: Fiber-Friendly Municipalities

In this episode, we speak with Michael Morey, Bluebird Network, about how communities can accelerate the delivery of and create more sustainable broadband programs.

What does it mean to be Fiber Friendly?

There are cities that are on the leading technical edge, and fully understanding the impact of broadband and are driving economic development through partnerships with service providers. Then smaller municipalities maybe unsure of the path and are distrusting of providers. How can municipalities become fiber-friendly? What does that mean?
