Rosenberger OSI Becomes Will Be New Member of the GAIA-X Project and Joins the Eco Association

Cabling specialist set to participate in the European Cloud project in 2022

Augsburg, January 25, 2022 – Rosenberger Optical Solutions & Infrastructure (Rosenberger OSI), an expert in fiber optic connections, cabling solutions and infrastructure services, announces that new far-reaching cooperations and memberships have been adopted for 2022. On the one hand, the cabling specialist joins the association of the Internet industry, eco as well as affiliated initiatives EuroCloud Germany and EuroCloud Native (ECN). In addition, Rosenberger OSI will now also be a partner of the international GAIA-X project in 2022.

The aim of the new engagements in EuroCloud Deutschland_eco e.V. (‘EuroCloud Germany’) is to promote and discuss high quality standards, integrity of solutions and components required to enable the European Cloud. “Rosenberger OSI has already been represented internationally for a long time at congresses, IT events, and with webinars on cloud topics. With our new memberships, we would now like to deepen and expand our know-how through exchange with other members,” explains Thomas Schmidt, Managing Director of Rosenberger OSI.

Help shaping the Internet with eco

eco is Europe’s largest association of the Internet industry and represents the interests of over 1,100 members from more than 70 countries. Together with its members, the association contributes to the development of the Internet, promotes new technologies, infrastructures and markets, shapes framework conditions, and represents the interests of its members in politics and in international bodies. The affiliated initiative, EuroCloud Germany is committed to acceptance and demand-oriented provision of cloud services throughout the German market. The EuroCloud Native (ECN) association, which is aimed at providers of public cloud-based solutions and services, is connected to this. Rosenberger OSI will intensively participate in the association’s work as an innovative and strong technology partner for the largest European data center locations. The focus is on sustainable services as well as strong and high-performance cabling solutions.

Technology provision in the GAIA-X project

Since the beginning of 2021, the eco Association has also taken over the project management of the Federation Services of the European GAIA-X project of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWi). GAIA-X brings together representatives from research and business at an international level to promote a secure and fully federated networked European data infrastructure. In an open and transparent digital ecosystem, data and services are to be made available, merged, shared and used. The provision of technologies via data center services will be supported by Rosenberger OSI and actively accompanied on the basis of its many years of expertise.

Promoting a strong European Cloud

To this end, Rosenberger OSI, as a cabling specialist, will increasingly promote networking. Event participation with audience interaction and industry experts are planned. Furthermore, seals of approval, certification projects, and standardization initiatives that are important and purposeful for Europe are to be promoted more intensively.

“The associations EuroCloud, eco and EuroCloudNative represent three success factors for us, which are very important especially for our project plans and initiatives, but also for research work. We are looking forward to setting new milestones for a strong European Cloud together with the members in order to actively help shape Europe’s future,” adds CEO Thomas Schmidt.
