EdgeConneX to Sponsor and Speak at the Northeast DAS & Small Cell Association’s In-building Wireless Summit in NYC

EVP of Wireless Doug Wiest to Discuss the Future of 5G Communications

EdgeConneXHerndon, VA – March 25, 2014EdgeConneX, a provider of innovative edge infrastructure solutions, announces today that its Executive Vice President of Wireless, Doug Wiest, has been selected to speak at the Northeast DAS & Small Cell Association’s (NEDAS) NYC In-building Wireless Summit, ‘HetNet’s Race to Connect’, taking place April 1, 2014 at Convene Midtown East in New York City.

Mr. Wiest, along with fellow panelists Joe Mullen, Chief Technical Officer at InSite Wireless Group, LLC; James Zik, Senior Product Marketing Manager at PCTEL; and moderator Leslie Snyder, Partner at Snyder & Snyder, LLP, will participate on the panel, ‘The Race to Connect Picks Up Speed: 5G and Beyond’.  The session will take place from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM.  Mr. Wiest will share his insights on 4G and skyrocketing data usage; he will also explore considerations on how to ease the congestion across fixed and wireless networks before the next major phase of mobile telecommunications standards – 5G.  Furthermore, Mr. Wiest will illustrate the implications of 5G and how the edge wireline will affect the future of wireless communications as well as the challenges that come with future deployments, including real estate access and backhaul considerations.

“The market is seeing an explosion of data consumption across fixed and wireless networks, with streaming video alone expected to increase ten-fold over the next six years,” remarks Wiest.  “In order to improve quality of service, reduce cost and latency, and promote faster and more reliable streaming for the end-user, network and content providers are bringing bandwidth-intensive content and applications to the edge of the network.  EdgeConneX is the industry leader in edge of network solutions, offering distributed colocation closest to key broadband provider aggregation points.  This allows end-users to receive their content faster than ever before, while enjoying a superior viewing experience.”

As the leading provider in the small cell market, EdgeConneX provides intelligent space, power and connectivity solutions by designing, deploying and operating small cell solutions at the edge of the network.  These solutions assist today’s leading wireless and fiber providers, municipalities and tower owners to provide superior mobile experiences for their customers.

NEDAS is a leading group of Northeast DAS and small cell professionals and end-users.  The association’s ‘HetNet’s Race to Connect’ event is aimed at engaging and empowering participants with real-world insights and solutions to implementing hybrid wireless systems for in-building, stadium, arena, hotel and campus environments in order to meet today’s converging wireless and wireline communication needs.  The summit brings together over 300 industry thought-leaders to address topics associated with the deployment, operational challenges and ROI effectiveness of DAS and small cell network solutions.
